Here at Rice Lumber, we are proud to be an Andersen window dealer. We love how firmly Andersen stands behind their product with one of the best warranties in the industry, as well as the convenience of being able to obtain parts for their windows that are decades old. With extensive lines of double hung, casement, awning, gliding, picture, and specialty shape windows, Andersen windows are an excellent choice for most any project.

All About Andersen

Andersen is the largest window manufacturer in North America, and holds more patents than any other major window and door manufacturer. Andersen is one of America’s oldest window manufacturers, having incorporated mass production for window components as early as 1904 (even before Henry Ford’s mass production), and bringing to market standard window sizes in 1905.

Andersen released the first completely assembled window in 1926, and has been at the forefront of nearly every major innovation in the window industry.

In the early 1900’s Andersen was making wood frames with double glazing. After other window companies had mixed success with 2 panes of glass, in 1952 Andersen released their “Welded Insulated Glass” which was the beginning of what is now commonly known as double pane insulted glass in the window industry.

In the early 1980’s several window companies began releasing windows with Low-E technologies; however, in 1982 Andersen was the first window company to offer Low-E as a standard feature on their windows.

Andersen was also the first window company to release products that are Green Seal Certified. In 1999 they were the first window manufacturer to be named ENERGY STAR National Window Partner of the Year, as well as the first window manufacturer whose products met all of the ENERGY STAR requirements for all 3 of the U.S. climate zones.

Still to this day, Andersen maintains ahead of the curve with their patented Fibrex material, patented Easy Connect Joining System, and a number of technologically advanced thermal Low-E coatings.

Here is a general overview of Andersen’s basic product lines:

E-Series

Andersen’s most customizable and versatile line of windows. Available in custom shapes, dramatic sizes, standard or custom aluminum cladded exterior colors, and an enormous number of interior wood species and finish options, as well as a large variety of hardware finishes.

A-Series

The most energy efficient, best performing, authentic architectural windows that Andersen has to offer. Cladded with a combination of fiberglass and Andersen’s patented Fibrex material, the A Series is the best protected product on the market. Available with a large variety of hardware finishes, a dozen interior finishes, and 11 exterior colors.

400 Series

Andersen’s most popular and longest running product line. With decades of design and engineering, the 400 Series is the perfect combination of style and performance. Unlike their other series, the Andersen 400 Series has two distinct lines of double hung windows, their Tilt Wash Window and their WoodWright Window.

The Andersen 400 Series Tilt Wash double hung window offers an innovated compression jamb liner, 3 interior colors or natural pine interior, and 7 vinyl cladded exterior colors.

The Andersen 400 Series WoodWright double hung window offers a flat wooden jamb liner, with either a white, pine, maple, or oak interior, 7 Fibrex (Andersen’s patented material) cladded exterior colors, and a large variety of hardware finishes.

Although Andersen has a line called Tilt Wash, all of their double hung windows tilt inward to wash.

200 Series

Andersen’s 200 Series consists of their most popular sizes and styles. Available in standard size double hung, gliding, and picture windows only (i.e. no casement or awning windows), with either a white or clear pine interior, and either a white or Sandtone vinyl cladded exterior.

With fewer options than their other window lines, Andersen is able to streamline the 200 Series to deliver a product line that is of the utmost value for your money, making the 200 Series a great option for basic window packages.

100 Series

Unlike the E-Series, A Series, 400 Series, and 200 Series which are all made of wood, the 100 Series is made entirely from Andersen’s patented Fibrex material, which is twice as strong as vinyl. The 100 Series is Andersen’s budget friendly alternative to vinyl windows. Available in 5 exterior colors and 4 interior colors.

Andersen has windows for most any budget, and you simply can not go wrong with a legacy and industry leadership that has consistently delivered the highest of quality decade after decade for over a century.
